Diamond Rings - I'm Just Me

One week after releasing a teaser trailer, Diamond Rings has revealed the music video for his new single, "I'm Just Me".  The song is off of his upcoming and still untitled album, due later this year.  Directed by Jared Raab, the video features John O'Regan, the man behind the name, in a Klaus Nomi-like metallic outfit.  Yes, there are lasers.  There's also a dance troupe that looks like they stopped by after performing at one of Madonna's shows, circa 1990.  Check it out below and look for Diamond Rings' sophomore album later this year on Astralwerks.

Divine Fits - My Love Is Real

Divine Fits is the new supergroup project that features Britt Daniel of Spoon, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade/Handsome Furs, and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks.  There's currently a lack of information about the band, but they've just revealed their first bit of music.  "My Love Is Real" is the debut single from their upcoming album.  The song is available for streaming over on the band's Facebook page if you "like" them.  It's more Handsome Furs than Spoon.  Hopefully we'll get a nice mix of both on the full record.  Either way, the single has me thoroughly hyped for whatever they have planned.  If you want a physical copy of the song, the band has a 7" pre-order up on their website.  It includes the b-side, "I Was Born In A Laundromat".  "My Love Is Real" will be released on July 31 via Merge.

Kate Nash - Under-Estimate The Girl

Last week, Kate Nash released a new single that is presumably from her upcoming album.  If one had to explain what Kate's music sounds like, they would probably describe it as brash and bouncy piano heavy pop, or maybe even sing a bit of "Foundations".  They definitely wouldn't think of phrases such as punk rock or riot grrrl.  Sure, she experimented with sounds on 2010's My Best Friend Is You, but never that far.

This time, she went there.  "Under-Estimate The Girl" is a complete transformation.  This musical milestone could drastically change Kate Nash's career in so many ways.  The overall audience reception has been split pretty evenly down the middle.  Some love the new track, while others claim that it's simply dreadful noise.  I think it's amazing.  If her next album sounds like this, then sign me up.

Check out the music video for "Under-Estimate The Girl" below.  You can download the single, here.

Little Victory - EP

I've recently become obsessed with a Brooklyn punk band that goes by the name Little Victory.  I can't remember how I stumbled upon their music, but it's been on my speakers nonstop ever since.  They only have one EP and it came out in January of 2011.  Yeah, I'm a bit late.  You may have seen my tweet about the album earlier this week.

Anyway, I'm even later to the party than I first assumed.  Unfortunately, Little Victory called it quits and disbanded in February of this year.  Finding a band you love, only to discover that they're no longer a band is just the worst feeling.  Even with this sad truth, I highly suggest that you still check out the EP.  It's full of hyper punk music and the track "Tigers" even has a music video.  Their live antics and merch, which you can read about here, undeniably grants them permission to use the queercore label.

Feel free to stream and download their EP below, for free.  I say we all download the album and push for a new record with accompanying reunion tour...

Mika - Make You Happy

Remember when Mika came out of nowhere and conquered the world with "Grace Kelly"?  Everyone took notice of his insane vocal range and over-the-top singles.  Some critics despised him, but I thought his debut album was full of so many great tracks, the non-single, "Any Other World", being a standout.  His second record had a collaboration with Imogen Heap, which is never a bad thing.

Mika's third album, The Origin Of Love, is due to be released later this year.  Last summer, he teased the record with the French single, "Elle Me Dit", and today Mika revealed the first English track from the album.  It's called "Make You Happy" and it's so good.  Keep in mind that "Make You Happy" is not an official single, but more of an album preview.  The song is accompanied by a short film directed by Iouri Philippe Paillé.  Check it out below and look out for the album's first official single soon.
